DESCRIPTION

Three-week course 10am-2pm on a Thursday Six places maximum For COVID related info see Booking Terms & Conditions below Suitable for enthusiastic beginners (complete beginners may find Louise's Creative Drawing one-day workshop a useful pre-cursor to this course) and anyone wanting to extend their artistic art practise. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING You'll start each session with warm-up drawing exercises to loosen your drawing arm and body and tune in your hand-eye co-ordination before beginning a number of experiments and practise pieces drawing or painting directly from the life-model. You'll examine proportions and the nature of the human form using drawing paper, pen, charcoal and pencil working through a number of timed pieces from 30 seconds to 1 hour. In sessions two and three you'll have the chance to experiment with working with a brush in simple colour ranges or just black and white, playing with line, tone, form, weight and shadow. NB: If we are unable to procure a model or if they are unable to attend last minute we will instead perform the same practise pieces using other life forms and natural shapes. WHAT'S INCLUDED The session includes life-model, all materials and equipment (except brushes), tuition and venue hire. You'll have the use of stand-up easels or you can draw sitting down using a lightweight drawing board. WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BRING Brushes are always best looked after by their owners - therefore please bring along a range of large brushes including: a 1-2” paint brush (this could be a good quality decorators brush), something like a number 8 long filbert and or a loose calligraphy brush. You’ll need to wear suitable clothing. An A4+ sketchbook is also useful but not essential. You will need to bring lunch and a hand towel. WHERE TO BUY BRUSHES: The brushes I have suggested above are all available from West of Wales Art Supplies on Market Street in Haverfordwest (see Jeff). You can also get them on-line.
