Abstract Woodland Painting - 4 wks day

Play with abstract colour and light - four-week course Fri 10am-2pm.

EndedHigh Street

DESCRIPTION

Four-week course (see dates below) 10am-2pm on Fridays 4-6 participants For COVID related info see Booking Terms & Conditions below Suitable for confident beginners and anyone wanting to extend their existing art practise. All materials & equipment (except brushes) provided. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING We'll play with energy, colour and light to create dynamic abstracted woodland landscapes. Each week we'll work through one or two processes and build a layered landscape. We'll start by drawing the 'feel' of the landscape composition using a couple of different techniques on paper to loosen up before applying the first layer of paint to canvas. Using a brush we'll apply the outline of our composition before turning the canvas upside down and cajoling paint drips into a loose interpretation of a forest. Using large and small brushes and a palette knife, an array of paint textures, colours and gels we'll build our paintings organically, responding to the previous layers, capturing light and working up our paintings to finished colourful and joyful artworks. Playing with technique is really important to stretching technical ability so you'll be encouraged to try new things and make mistakes as this is often where the magic is found. WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BRING You’ll need to wear suitable clothing and bring a hand towel and refreshments. Please bring along a range of large brushes including a 1-2” short flat or decorators brush and something like round 4mm width and a filbert 15mm soft brushes - don't worry too much about this, just bring what you have but try to buy quality brushes and not too small - the Daler Rowney Graduate range is very good. WHAT IT INCLUDES The price of the workshop includes all core materials & equipment (except brushes), tuition and venue. WHERE TO BUY BRUSHES: The brushes I have suggested above are all available from West of Wales Art Supplies on Market Street in Haverfordwest (see Jeff). You can also get them on-line.
