ARTWORK
Louise Burdett (née Thorogood) b 1971
I am a contemporary fine artist with a diverse background. I live and work in Pembrokeshire, West Wales having been born in Greater London. My studio is part of a new creative hub called The Farm Studio in Lawrenny and we are a collaboration of artists, designers, entrepreneurs and scientists.
I am interested in identity and control and am currently working on an exhibition called Wounded and the Art of Healing for Tenby Museum & Art Gallery for Summer 2023 which explores the themes of mental health and climate change. I am profoundly effected by the Pembrokeshire Coastline and the generosity of spirit that I have found in the friends I have made here in Wales.

TEACHING
Creative Art Workshops - Adults & Families
Sept 2020 I took over the former Oriel Q Gallery at The Queens Hall in Narberth, as my studio, gallery and teaching space. During this time, Covid rules allowing, I ran creative art workshops and courses for adults. These began before vaccination and so various degrees of social distancing and rules based attendance were employed in order to make the workshops happen, giving a vital lifeline to many of the participants. Teaching has been an important part of my artistic art practice since 1994.

Collaborative Art Residencies - Schools
Working as an artist in residence with students ranging in age from 8 to 18 to complete painting, drawing and sculpture projects which would always end with an exhibition of the finished work. I consider projects completed at Hayes School, and in particular ‘Beasts’, where students took over classrooms with their own installations, some of my proudest achievements to date.
