Louise Burdett (née Thorogood) b 1971

I am a contemporary artist with a diverse background. I live and work in Pembrokeshire, West Wales having been born in Greater London.  My studio is part of a new creative hub called The Farm Studio in Lawrenny and we are a collaboration of artists, designers, entrepreneurs and scientists.

I am interested in identity and control, specifically being human at a time of rapid climate change and biodiversity loss.  I am profoundly effected by the Pembrokeshire Coastline and the generosity of spirit that I have found here in Wales.

Working as an artist in residence with students ranging in age from 8 to 18  to complete painting, drawing and sculpture projects which would always end with an exhibition of the finished work.  I consider projects completed at Hayes School, and in particular ‘Beasts’, where students took over classrooms with their own installations, some of my proudest achievements to date.
